Terms & Conditions

Last Updated: August 2026

1. Introduction

Welcome to Closette. Closette is a peer-to-peer marketplace that lets users rent, list for rent, buy, and sell clothing and fashion items with each other. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.

2. Eligibility

3. Platform Role

Closette is an intermediary that connects renters, lenders, buyers, and sellers. Closette does not own, inspect, or guarantee any listed item. Users are fully responsible for:

4. Identity Verification

Before your first rental request, purchase, rental listing, or sale listing, you must complete identity verification. Verification requires a photo of the front and back of a valid government ID, passport, or driver's license, and a live selfie taken with your camera.

Submitted documents are reviewed by authorized Closette staff only and are never shown publicly. Only a verified badge, not your documents, is visible to other users. If your verification is rejected, you will be shown the reason and may resubmit.

5. Renter & Lender Responsibilities

As a Renter, you agree to:

As a Lender, you agree to:

6. Buyer & Seller Responsibilities

As a Buyer, you agree to:

As a Seller, you agree to:

7. Rental & Sale Agreements

Each rental or sale is a direct transaction between the two users involved, governed by the price, dates, and terms shown at the time of the request. By confirming a rental or purchase, both parties accept the applicable Rental Policy or Sale Policy, and the total price shown, including any delivery fees, cross-state fees, and (for rentals) the security deposit.

8. Fees & Commission

Closette charges a service commission of 15% on the rental subtotal, the sale price, and any overdue-rental fee collected. Closette does not take a commission on delivery fees or on security deposits. All applicable fees are shown to both parties before a request is submitted.

9. Security Deposits

Rentals may include a refundable security deposit. Deposits are held as part of the transaction, not as Closette revenue, and are not paid to the lender unless Closette approves a damage claim. Deposits are normally released to the renter after a successful return. If a damage report is filed, the deposit is held pending review as described below.

10. Cancellations

Once a lender or seller accepts a request, the renter or buyer may cancel free of charge only within 1 hour of that acceptance. After the 1-hour window closes, the request proceeds toward dispatch and normal cancellation terms no longer apply. Closette reserves the right to restrict abusive cancellation behavior and apply penalties where necessary.

11. Delivery & Third-Party Couriers

Closette coordinates delivery, which may be fulfilled directly or through a third-party courier partner (such as Aramex). To complete pickup and delivery, your name, phone number, and delivery address are shared with the courier, and, where cash-on-delivery applies, the courier may collect payment on Closette's behalf and later settle it to Closette. Closette remains responsible for allocating funds, resolving disputes, and making final decisions on all transactions, even when a third-party courier physically handles delivery.

12. Damages, Loss & Disputes

Renters are responsible for damage, loss, or theft of a rented item during the rental period. Buyers are responsible for damage they cause after the sale's inspection window has passed.

If a damage report is filed, Closette reviews the evidence (including handoff photos) and decides the outcome: no damage found, a partial compensation amount, or, for major damage, an amount up to the full deposit. Any amount awarded goes to the lender in full; Closette does not take a commission on damage awards. Closette may assist in resolving disputes but is not liable for the outcome of a dispute between users.

13. Late Returns & Overdue Rentals

Returning a rental item late may result in an overdue fee, calculated from the number of overdue days, and, if unresolved, account suspension. Closette earns a 15% commission on collected overdue fees; the remainder goes to the lender.

14. Wallet, Earnings & Cashouts

Completed transactions credit your Closette wallet according to the outcome of the transaction. Earnings are not recognized for pending, rejected, canceled, or returned/refunded transactions. You may request a cashout of your available wallet balance at any time, unless your account is suspended.

15. Account Suspension

Closette may suspend an account for a failed return, an open dispute, an unresolved overdue rental, or an active investigation. A suspended account cannot start a new rental, purchase, or listing, or request a cashout, but may still complete an obligation that already exists, such as an accepted delivery, a required return, or resolving the issue that caused the suspension. Suspension is lifted once the underlying issue is resolved.

16. Account Deletion

You may request account deletion from within the app. Requests are reviewed by Closette; deletion is not immediate. A request may be declined if you have unresolved obligations, such as an active rental, sale, dispute, or unpaid balance. Some transaction records may be retained after deletion as required for accounting and legal purposes.

17. Prohibited Use

Users may not:

Closette reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section.

18. Limitation of Liability

Closette is not liable for the quality, authenticity, or condition of listed items, for disputes between users, or for losses arising from a rental or sale, except where Closette has made an admin decision to compensate a user directly (such as a damage award).

19. Modifications

Closette may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised Terms.

Rental Policy

Last Updated: August 2026

1. Who This Applies To

This Rental Policy governs every rental transaction on Closette, between a renter and a lender. It works alongside our Terms & Conditions.

2. Before You Can Rent or List

You must complete identity verification before your first rental request or your first rental listing. Browsing is available without verification.

3. Booking & Availability

A rental must be for a minimum of 3 days. An item cannot be booked over an existing accepted rental, and stays blocked for 2 days before and 2 days after a booked rental to allow time for delivery and inspection.

4. Cancellations

Once a lender accepts your request, you may cancel free of charge only within 1 hour of that acceptance. After that window closes, the item moves toward dispatch and this free cancellation no longer applies.

5. Dispatch & Handoff Evidence

Before dispatch, the lender must capture photos of the item's condition (front, back, and detail, at minimum). These photos become locked evidence once the item is dispatched and cannot be replaced afterward. Delivery is coordinated through Closette, either directly or through a delivery partner such as Aramex.

6. Rental Period & Returns

Your rental period runs from the date you actually receive the item to the agreed return date. Returns should be started through the normal Start Return step once that date is reached, not before. When starting a return, the renter must capture return-condition photos before the item is picked back up.

7. Item Condition

Items must be returned clean, undamaged, and in their original condition. Normal wear from ordinary use is acceptable; excessive damage is not.

8. Late Returns

If an item isn't returned on time, an overdue fee applies, calculated from the number of days late. Closette takes a 15% commission on the overdue fee; the rest goes to the lender. Unresolved overdue rentals may result in account suspension until the item is returned or the case is resolved.

9. Security Deposits

Rentals may include a refundable security deposit, shown at the time of booking. The deposit is held to cover the transaction, not treated as Closette's or the lender's earnings. Once the item is physically returned, the lender has 8 hours to confirm its condition or report damage; if no issue is reported, the deposit is released to the renter automatically.

10. Damage Reports & Reviews

If the lender reports damage after a return, the deposit is held while Closette reviews the outgoing and return handoff photos and the report. During review, chat between the renter and lender may be temporarily read-only to protect the evidence. Closette's decision may be:

Any amount awarded to the lender is paid in full, with no Closette commission on damage awards.

11. Communication

Both users must respond in a reasonable time and coordinate delivery, pickup, and return clearly through the in-app chat.

12. Disputes

Closette may review evidence and mediate a dispute between a renter and a lender. Closette's decision on a reviewed dispute is final.

13. Trust & Safety

Closette relies on trust between users. Misuse of the rental process, including repeated damage claims, no-shows, or abusive cancellations, may result in suspension or a permanent ban.

14. Policy Updates

Closette may update this Rental Policy at any time. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.

Sale Policy

Last Updated: August 2026

1. Nature of Sale

All purchases on Closette are transactions between users. Closette provides the platform to connect buyers and sellers but is not the direct seller of listed items.

2. Before You Can Buy or List

You must complete identity verification before your first purchase or your first sale listing. Browsing is available without verification.

3. Item Condition & Accuracy

Sellers must describe items honestly and accurately. Photos should reflect the real condition, style, and appearance of the item. Buyers are responsible for reviewing all item details, sizing information, photos, and descriptions before purchasing.

4. Delivery & Receipt

Delivery is coordinated through Closette, either directly or through a delivery partner such as Aramex, who may collect payment on Closette's behalf where cash-on-delivery applies. Once the item is delivered and marked as received by the buyer, the inspection period begins.

5. 4-Hour Try-On / Inspection Window

After receiving the item, the buyer has 4 hours to:

If no return request is made within 4 hours of confirmed receipt, the transaction becomes final and the item is considered sold.

6. Return Requests Within 4 Hours

If the buyer requests a return within the 4-hour inspection window:

7. Non-Returnable After Window Ends

After the 4-hour inspection period expires, the sale is completed automatically, without requiring either user to reopen the app:

8. Fees & Commission

Closette charges a 15% commission on the sale price. Delivery fees are separate and are not commissioned by Closette.

9. Fraud / Misrepresentation

If an item is significantly different from its listing, counterfeit, damaged beyond description, or materially misleading, Closette may review the dispute and take appropriate action.

10. Communication Standards

Users must communicate respectfully and cooperate regarding delivery, timing, and return coordination. Harassment, threats, abuse, or dishonest behavior may result in account action.

11. Platform Safety

Closette reserves the right to suspend, restrict, or terminate accounts involved in:

A suspended account can still complete an already-accepted sale but cannot start a new purchase or listing until the suspension is resolved.

12. Policy Updates

Closette may update this Sale Policy at any time. Continued use of the platform after updates may constitute acceptance of the revised terms.
